Membership of the Oread Mountaineering Club is only open to adults, i.e. those aged 18 or over.
Members must acknowledge the British Mountaineering Council Statement of Participation: ‘The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.’
Members must have an awareness of their own capabilities and limitations, and as a result always take part in activities in a way which does not endanger themselves or others.
Members must agree to abide by the regulations and policies of the club, see: Constitution; Policies.
Full Members, in addition to the above:
Full members must be able to demonstrate some suitable experience and commitment to the club
Full members will have the support of a proposer and a seconder, both of whom have been full members of the club for at least 1 year.
