Northumberland has lots of quality crags, predominantly high quality hard
sandstone with a good span of grades, so great for grit aficionados, or even lovers
of sandstone: I’ve really enjoyed the Staffordshire variety in the past.
Camping is at Highburn House which has good facilities, electric/non electric
pitches and is only a short walk to Wooler, a nice market town and one of the
driest places I’ve noted when weather watching. Inform them that you are Oread
when booking (lots of campsites were fully booked when I enquired so recommend
reserving a place asap).
Its well placed to get to the best of the crags, being 15 minutes drive to the
famous Bowden Doors and Kyloe and 30 minutes to the southern 5 star crags
such as Simonside and Ravensburgh.
I’ve got the routes book but there’s a standalone bouldering guide to the area too.
Add to that excellent walking and lots of historic sites so there’s stuff for everyone.
