Evening Lecture, Royal Oak, Ockbrook – Tuesday 2nd December

Guiding in older age – Robin Beadle will tell us how his alpine guiding career was brought to an abrupt and premature end by Brexit and Covid. He will talk about this setback, and his recovery from it, including his recent guiding trips to Kyrgyzstan, Lhotse and Carstensz Pyramid amongst others. He will also reflect on his decision 30 years ago to quit engineering to work as a mountain guide, and whether, with hindsight, this was a good idea.

Entry £3 Oreads, £5 visitors. Rob Tresidder
