The work of Derby Mountain Rescue Team – Robin Knott

Derby Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and consist entirely of unpaid volunteers. 

Working in partnership with police, ambulance service, and other agencies, we offer search and rescue capabilities in rural to urban areas in the southern part of the Peak District National Park, and from Staffordshire, through the Derby area and into Nottinghamshire. The principal objective of the team is to save life and alleviate distress. In 2025 the Team responded to 99 requests for assistance, the highest since the Team was formed in 1964.
