The grass is always greener…….. Simon Verspeak
Working as a mountaineering instructor has taken Simon Verspeak around the
world. Most recently he’s worked as a Field Guide for British Antarctic Survey
supporting scientists carrying out research in one of the World’s most
inhospitable environments.
Closer to home, he’s based in Llanberis in Northern Snowdonia where he’s been
an active team member of Llanberis Mountain Rescue since 2008. During that
time the voluntary emergency service has gone from less than 100 rescues per
year to over 400.
His talk will cover mountaineering and work in Antarctica and then briefly how a
small group of volunteers cope with managing rescues on the UK’s busiest
mountain, Yr Wyddfa.
