This is a one way walk with convenient buses along the A6 at both ends –
remember your bus pass and a packed lunch! Oh, and there’s a competition with
a prize at the end.
Meet at The Derbyshire Emporium, Matlock Street, Bakewell. Somewhat
appropriately the What Three Words location is shaped.passports.marching.
This is a coffee shop with loos, opposite the Rutland Arms Hotel by the big
roundabout. There should be a “6.1 The Sixes” bus which arrives conveniently at
10:27. Depart on the walk at 11:00.
We’ll walk past the Motte and Bailey up Castle Hill to Ballcross Farm. Then via
Moatless Plantation, Calton Pastures, Calton Lees and Beeley Lodge to Beeley
Hilltop. Onwards to Beeley, Smeltingmill Wood, Rowsley Wood finishing at
Massarella’s café for a cuppa. (W3W reaction.forget.shelving). Buses available
for the return.
