Oread Mountaineering Club Meets Background Information
Regular Meets
Tuesdays
On the first Tuesday of each winter month ( i.e. during GMT ),
Lecture and slide show organised by Tony Howard, at the Royal Oak at Ockbrook, starting at 8 pm. A small charge is made on the door, a little more for better known speakers, to cover costs.
If you are interested in getting in touch with the club, these are good opportuities to come along and introduce yourself to members. The company and beer is always excellent.
On the second Tuesday of every month.
The committee meets at the same Royal Oak, and welcomes other members, or anyone interested in meeting the club, to come along for a convivial pint of Steve's beer with them afterwards. After 9.30ish is usually a good time.
Another good opportunity to introduce yourself to the committee members, and find out what is going on.
Wednesdays
This is the favoured climbing evening for many club members, and a number can be found on crags in the summer, and climbing walls in winter. If you are interested, you are welcome to come along on these meets, and meet members.
New for 2012; Each month a list of Venues for the Wednesday evening Climbing Meets is published in the Newsletter and on the Website.

Other evenings
Ad hoc meets are frequently arranged amongst members, via the Yahoo email group, phone or text.
Weekend and longer Meets
Some impromptu meets, for instance winter climbing trips, are arranged via phone and the email group, but most climbing and walking meets throughout the year are pre-arranged, and appear on the meets list..
